I went to a clients today, she had been printing fine to her USB printer, I think it was a HP photosmart something. She had ran the 10.3.6 updater, it would no longer print. I tried it direct USB as well as via a airport express. I end up with it just not working. Finally, I removed it from the print center and tried to add it again. While that was doing that I would get:
scanning for drivers.... could not locate drivers.

I went and downloaded the drivers new, installed them, same issue, rebooted somewhere in-between as well :-)

I don't want to roll back to 10.3.5, last resort.

Had a friend test his printer out after updating, and his, which is a Canon, is also now broken. Repair permissions, reboot, etc etc, anyone else have any ideas?

While I was on site, I managed to find a few links of others having the same problem, but I can not locate those links again, anyone able to point me to a site with others in the same boat?

thanks

10.3.6 killed my Epson C70 printer. Asked for help in the peripherals forum but I'll repost it here if you don't mind

After updating to 10.3.6 my Epson C70 printer doesn't work and my HD(can't remember what kind it is) is also not working.

To start with the printer the print centre says it can't send the print file to the printer. I checked the log and get this:

Code:
Nov 17 13:25:39 XXXXXXXXXXX kernel: USBF: 217743.247 +AppleUSBOHCI[0x107a000]::ReturnOneTransaction(0x6eb01c0, 0x112ee28, e0004051)
I've tried all the usual troubleshooting tricks of restarting the computer and the printer, deleting and adding the printer again etc etc. Still doesn't work. Any idea what the problem might be?

For the FW HD:

It doesn't mount at all. It seems to be similar to when Panther first came and it killed my FW HD. I just get nothing when I turn it on and try to connect to it.

Any ideas?

Beat this. The updater killed the Finder on my Mums Computer. The Softwhere Update window came up she clicked update, the update went through, but then got stuck on one of the final sections (it was like an hour and a half without the bar moving) I force quit the updater, and restarted. It took ages to start up but when it did the Finder didn't start. Oddly enough everything eelse did though, there was a desktop picture (although no icons) the Dock was working and you could star any app up from there, you could also navigate the Apps and Documents folders that she has in the Dock. The Finder icon was there, but without the triangle saying it was running (clicking on it did nothing).

The only way a managed to get it running was to download the combined updater from Apple on my computer, pull the HD connect it up to my Mums (thank god its an old G4, and not some sort of iMac) boot off that, and use the combined updater to update the original OS.
