I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this post so feel free to move it if necessary. I've just switched from WinXP to an eMac and there's one thing I haven't figured out how to do.
When I want to print just a small portion of a webpage, in Windows, I highlighted the section on the page then went to the print window and told it to print only the selection. This saves ink and paper. Is there such an option on the Mac? I thought it was a browser setting, but I realized that it would be a printer setting.
Thanks!
Rayne

No, "print selection" is strictly a function of the application program you are printing from. The operating system has no way of knowing how a program will output its data, and thus no way to know what a selection even is in a given program, much less what to do with it.
If it's a feature you want, suggest it to the application's author.
Meanwhile, as a workaround, cut and paste the part you want to print into TextEdit or Word, and print from there.

Well, printing is really an extension app, much like the clipboard, no?
I can copy a selection to the clipboard, so....

Not sure about application feature...it is available in all of my browsers on the PC (IE and Firefox), but none of them have that feature on the Mac (IE, Firefox or Safari), so I thought maybe it was an OS thing.

It is an application feature.
Many applications (like databases, word processing apps, etc) provide a print selection function. It's just tailored to the needs of that application.

It's an application thing, because only the application knows about the selection and how to best print it. Firefox has the print selection feature on Mac. In the print dialog click the popup menu that says Copies & Pages and select the Firefox pane. There select Print Selection.
