Hello all -

Quick question (and some background info at the end):

I have a G5 powermac that arrived with Garageband. The G5 is in my office and is used for my work. I also have a powerbook that I take home with me. I want to move Garageband from the G5 to the powerbook. My question is:

Is it as simple as copying the Garageband application and associated music files & samples folder in ~/Library (I think!)?

Help appreciated!

More info:
I assume that this is legal according to Apple's T&Cs: I won't be using GB on the G5 at any point, and will most likely remove it from that machine.

Final PS:
I posted this in the OSX forums rather than the Software forum as I assume that any answer will apply to all / most apps. Sorry if this needs to be moved!

Sounds good to me. Why don't you try it?

Heh - that's a very good plan!

It was late, I was out of the office, I thought I'd consult the hive-mind of MacNN...

But you're right - I'll get myself into the office with a blank DVD and see if it works.

Thanks Lavar78.

If you remove GB from the G5, you can just use the install disc that came with it and install it (just the software under customize) on the PB. However, to do both would be illegal.

Thanks Randman - I thought that single-use would be legal, but thought I'd check.

I had earlier tried using the software install disk on the PB, but was given a message telling me that the software couldn't be installed on the machine. I assume that the disk assumed I was going to install the system software, and wouldn't allow me to install a select number of apps.

Thanks for your help.
