I've been having a problem recently when trying to execute and mount dmg's. When I double, click on them, nothing happens, so I checked the console and this is the error message I get each time:

DiskImageMounter[Insert # Here] error: helperConnectionDied

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks

Hi, Beeyah

If you're having problems mounting

- disk images
- external drives, e.g. FireWire drives or iPods,
- CDs or DVDs

try the steps in this Mac OS X Hints article.
Good Luck!

I did what the article told me, with the exception of the first two steps, being that whenever I run Disk Utility i get a message saying it has unexpectedly quit.

On the other hand, I browsed macosxhints and it said there was a command line version of Disk Utility called diskutils. I used this with the command:

Code:
diskutil mount <path to dmg>
and it replied by saying:

Code:
<path to dmg> mounted
However in finder it doesn't display the dmg as mounted at all.

If Disk Utility is quiting on you, you probably have some other problems as well. Have you got an external drive from which you can boot? That might help so that you can run Disk Utility.

i fixed it by dl'ing straight from the internet and installing from the harddisk
