I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced the following problem: for a while now -- maybe a month or two -- I've been experiencing delays as long as 5-10 seconds when I right-click. Between the time I click and the time the contextual menu comes up (for instance on a file) there is a noticeable delay where nothing happens and then the spinning beach ball comes up. After a few more seconds the menu appears and works as normal. This is starting to get really annoying but I'd rather avoid re-installing everything to get rid of it.

Any suggestions?

Have you installed any 3rd-party contextual menus? If so, I would try getting rid of those and see if the problem goes away...

What I've noticed is that there's always a delay when you access the contextual menu the first time, regardless of where you do it (Finder, third party apps, etc). But the succeeding times don't have this delay. Maybe its the build-up of the contextual menu items?

I think you could be right ginoledesma. I've got a load of third-party contextual menu extras (what's the acronym? CME?) and it's only slow the first time or if the file I click on has lots of possible apps that could open it.

issandr, is the problem just in the Finder, or everywhere?
