is this a common Problem that netscape has?

I think the consensus will be around here that the problem is ... you're using Netscape. Just a heads-up.

and/or that not enough people use netscape to make any problems "common."

I'd humbly suggest to your user that they use another browser - Camino (for simplicity) or Firefox if they need a gecko-based browser.
