Hi everyone,

My ethernet connection to the campus network has died; however, Airport still works. I was debugging a Java program where I would use various port numbers to build a webserver via the Terminal and XCode. I would find a bug in the program and press Command + Z in the Terminal to suspend the program and then make a new instance of the program using a new port number. So I did that for about 31 ports (1500 to 1531) or so then Safrai got the spinning beachball of death so I force quit it. But then everything connected online ceased to connect. So I rebooted. Nothing. Fixed permissions. Nothing. I am lost. I thought that rebooting clears all of the used ports before if that is even the problem. Because Aiport works and all of the other computers around here works also. Please help. Thanks.

Has your program modified your Network settings at all? You might want to open System Preferences > Network and make sure everything is ok.

My Uni will block a user from the network if there is any abnormal network usage going on, so that may have happened.

Yeah maybe something tipped them off and they thought you were hacked or something malicious was going on. Talk to them and see if that's what happened.
