Hey folks. I've got a XServe G5 that replaced a previous G5 tower I had serving as a file server. When I got the XServe in, I just cloned the system drive of the G5 tower to the XServe. This all works fine, but I can't connect to the XServe using Server Monitor to monitor/admin the XServe, presumably because servermgrd wasn't started by default when it was on the G5 tower. I've edited the /etc/hostconfig SERVERMANAGERSERVER key to YES, and even tried starting servermgrd manually with servermgrdctl start. While the process does start and is running, I still can't connect to it with System Monitor. Is there another process required for operation? Haven't been able to find much documentation other than the manpages for servermgrd.

If the machine is just acting as a file server, it may be easier to reinstall the OS than to figure this out by hand. Another option is installing the OS on a different volume and see what's different.
