So I used to have a 10 GIG hd, and 10.3 installed, on my old iBook 500. 10.3 was upgraded from 10.2. I had all my programs.. all my photos and yet, I had 3 gigs left. Now when I got my new iBook.. OS 10.3 comes preinstalled. I have the same setup as before, maybe less files, but there are 4 gigs of stuff somewhere taking up space. I've gone through and looked through all the programs that came installed... I didn't really see anything.. Is anyone aware of what is taking up all this space?

I don't know if I'm the only one to ever notice this, or if I'm just insane and not making sense.

Hi, Ben.

Try OmniDiskSweeper. Great for finding large, invisible files.

You might want to provide some more details about how you moved your data, IDs, etc. from the old Mac to the new Mac -- if that was part of getting to the point where you are now seeing this issue on the new Mac.

Also, how much RAM is on the new iBook?
Good Luck!

Probably the language packs and extra files were added here and there. Do you have iLife? iDVD and GarageBand eat up space. Some

I didn't move my data between macs at all. I sold one mac, and went without a laptop for a few months. I had iLife and all that jazz on here but I trashed that first thing because I'll never use it in a million years. i'll try disksweeper

Wow! I found it! Omni sweeper did the trick! Although without paying for it I had to go find the files on my own and delete them. But Garage band was the culprit as well as some print drivers. Those 2 alone took up 2.5 gigs.

DeLocalizer should clear up another gig or so worth of un-needed language packages.

Edit: Wooops,^^^ too slow!
