Alright, as far as I can tell the common solution to a frozen system menu (clock, airport, display, sound) is to delete the preferenced and/or do the magic command-option-p-r.
However, this hasn't solved the problem.
The don't freeze at any particular instance and I can't think of what may be causing it. I disabled my 3rd party menu items, but that's changed nothing. In fact, when reenabled, the 3rd party items continue to function even when the system items are frozen.
I've also ran permission and disk repairs.
Is there anyway to reset the meny items from within the operating system without re-logging in?

Additionally, my system won't find my boot disk on restart. Howevem, if I hold down option and select my disk it'll boot right up.
I've done an archive and install, I don't have time to do a full reinstall right now however.
Any suggestions on either issue would be appreciated.

While im here, ive seen exactly this happen on G5's, cos they dont like stuffit V8 for whatever reason.. No such issues on G4's that I am aware of tho.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

I hope you meant 10.3.6 cause 10.3.7 isn't out yet and if it isn't a typo, that could be the problem...

interestingly, i did recently install stuffit v8.
However, it seems to have rectified the start up on its own, and I found a solution to the clock issue (see here)
