I would like the dock to automatically hide whenever I launch certain applications such as Photoshop. the rest of the time, however, I would like it unhidden.

You can easily hide/show the dock with (option+command+D), so I figure you would somehow be able to connect an applescript or something to a specific app, causing the dock to hide when the app is launched, and then show when you quit the app, or even if you switch to a different app. Come to think of it, each app should have a dock "hide" or "show" preference in its .plist or something. Perhaps there is a haxie or some software that does this?

I also was wondering if this is possible, I have a program that I must use in virtual pc and it is designed to work at 1024 by 768. I get funky errors when I run it full screen on my PowerBook 15" must use this troubleshoot system installations I do for work. I am picky about my desktop and I hate how the dock gets in the way when I am working in VPC. I like my dock at the bottom most of the time, and I can not stand having it at the side. I remember that iMovie 2 had this ability, and I assume a simple applescript could do this for me but I haven't played around with it.
