OS 10.3.6

When in List View and connected to an internal network (Airport), and I go to/highlight Computer, the date modified and date created for Network is Dec 31, 1903 and the Kind is “Alias”. Also, there is no flippy triangle even though there are indentured items. The indentured items are however shown properly when in Icon or Column view. Very strange me thinks.

So, being near an Apple store, I asked the Genius what I should do to fix the problem(s). He then checked many of the computers in the store and, you guessed it, they were all as I described (though some indicated the Kind was “- -” rather than “Alias”.

FWIW, when I disconnect from the Airport Network, the date modified, etc. is normal.

The short answer from the genius was that he was unaware of this bug in the system and to fergedaboudit. He did add that he may be able to get a better answer in a week or so and to check back.

Waddya think?

I want to resurrect this, as I just noticed the same thing on my laptop -- and found someone on an Apple board with the same issue.

I could SWEAR I read something about this more recently than December, but have thus far not found it.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is it causing any troubles?

The window in reference represents a non-existent virtual folder that is there to mimic a Windows behavior. Automount has been a little flaky in recent 10.3 releases, and this may be related to that.

Thanks for the reply -- I'd been having some flakiness in my laptop and was afraid the date was related to that. I checked my desktop and have the same date. It does not appear to affect performance, however.
