i've got a used ibook (600mhz g3).
seems to work fine, but...

wanted to do a clean install of osx (10.3.2).

the ibook will not boot from the cd (i just get a grey screen).
eventually, it will startup, from the hd.

i tried to boot from the (latest) techtool and disk warrior cds, nada.

the cd spins up, then spins down.

edit:was able to do this on my cousin's ibook (600mhz, combo drive)
this one only has a cd-rom...

any ideas??

thanx!

Install OS X from your cousin's computer onto yours using target disk mode.

BTW, check to make sure that your install CD isn't, in fact, a DVD.

edit: I just noticed the Tech Tools, DiskWarrior tidbit. My PowerBook boots from the latest DiskWarrior CD just fine, so I'm guessing you've got a bad CD-ROM drive. Try cleaning it out using a disk cleaner before you take it to an Apple Store.
