I thought it would be cool to suggest some widget ideas for the people who want to enter the contest but might need some suggestions.

Here's mine:
a simple molarity calculator that takes molecular weight, mass, and volume in any combination and spits out the missing value. It's simple and probably wouldn't win, but seems like something that is perfect for a widget. You could spice it up by including functionality to fetch the molecular weight from the web given the name of a molecule.

I'd do it myself, but I don't have access to tiger.

Here are some things that I'd like to see. Some are probably already in Konfabulator but I haven't checked that lately. Some may also be beyond the limits of javascript.. but that is not for me to decide.

1: A VersionTracker Widget that would list new updates with links to the VT page.

2: A Dictionary/Thesaurus that would access an online dictionary, or several.

3: A widget that tells me when someone uploads something to my iDisk Public Folder, or any public folder for that matter.

4: An alarm clock/timer

5: An iChat buddy list / status widget, that would not require iChat to be launched, and would show buddies whose status is away as well as available (unlike the iChat status menu).

6: A widget that could contain the contents of all or some links in the Safari Bookmarks. This would allow access to these bookmarks in whatever browser is set as default. A plus would be if the widget could also save the current link in the active browser to the safari bookmarks. This would alow for switching browsers allot (something I do) but also maintaining one synchable bookmark database (something that I would like to do).

7: A widget that would create reminder alerts for my iCal To Do items.

I would like a Uber color picker with swatches and pantone references.

Also a really good weather read out with smart graphics, like Konfabulators one.

Also separate pie charts/spedometers for disk usage, memory usage, network usage and CPU usage.
