here's the deal:
if i print an image from preview, works fine.
if i resize it (ie 120%), even a small image, i suddenly get exactly 4 pages, with the resized image on 1 page, and smaller copies on the other 3...!

10.2.8 on a G4 imac.

I'm not finding any resize control in Preview whatever. Are you sure this in not an artifact in your printer dialog?

Ok, I think I see what you're doing... scaling in Page Setup? I can't duplicate your behavior on 10.3.7.

This how I tested it. I did a command-shift-4 and then selected an area that was smaller than a page. This created a pdf file that I then opened with preview, changed the scale in Page Setup and then previewed again as a pdf. Still one page...

Sorry if that is not much help.

thanx for trying...
we set it in print setup.

if i print normally (100%) no problem.
just resizing creates these extra pages.

any thing else, anyone??

I'm sorry this doesn't really count as a fix, but I strongly suggest upgrading to 10.3.7.

good luck!

Until you find a solution, you could just have preview print the 1 page and ignore the others.

that's just it, we only try to print 1 page; the other 3 are out-of-our control!

guess i'm stuck for now...

I'm not following you now. If you tell Preview to print "Pages: / From: 1 To: 1, It will only print that page.

no, the whole point of this thread is that, when i do the above, with a size set to a custom size (in page setup, ie 120%), i STILL get 3 extra pages with odd-sized prints of the original image (which prints at the requested size on the first page)

weird, and i can't find a fix!

Ok. Gotcha. That is indeed odd. Wish I could offer something more substantial. It can't hurt to send Apple some feedback. I'm of the opinion that they actually read and incorporate a lot of what we send them. I know something I requested appeared in a subsequent version of OS X. Maybe a lot of people requested the feature/fix (I can't remember what it was anymore!) but at any rate, it became a reality.

That is not likely to happen here. First off, this is wierd, probably only happened to a few people. Second, this is 10.2 we're talking about. Not exactly a high priority at 1 Infinite Loop unless it is a significant security issue.
