Hey All

After I did Onyx update and Full repair and file deletion my Python file is corrupted, but I don't know if Onyx or my update to 10.3.7 did this.

So what do I use in OSX that will repair the File???

Thanks!!!

Brad

you could try diskwarrior or something, but it's unlikely to fix a corrupted file - when it's corrupted, it's just broken usually. You'll probably need to replace it.

Hey cpac

Oh, so OS X doesn't come with a program to fix files... Oh Well...

There are no "programs to fix files". Such a thing is technically impossible.

Well there's always the Disk Repair utility - but I'm not sure if it will be able to repair your specific corrupted file (I doubt there are any programs on any platform that can do that).

There are plenty of programs that can fix problems with the directory structure and the like (and thereby avoid having individual files get corrupted), but once they are corrupted, I don't think there's much you can do.

I don't believe any OS comes with a general-purpose program to fix corrupted files. I can't imagine how such a thing would be implemented without basically storing a backup of every file on the disk.

That's the problem. You'd need to not only know every single file format in existence, but you'd need to know what the data in the file was before it was corrupted. Backups are really the only solution to that kind of problem, if you want a general fix.

Theoretically, developers can attempt to write "file first aid" programs for their own formats. Some developers do this, but it's not common.
