Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and a recent part convert to OS X as, working in publishing all of my clients are still on OS 9. At least I’m now using both systems! Just purchased a new phone (Sony Ericsson K700i) with a dedicated USB cable. When linking to my G4, the computer says it can’t find a suitable driver in OS 9. However in OS X, even after downloading isync, the computer doesn’t see the extra device at all, even after scanning. Any suggestions, please?
Very many thanks,
Laurie

Your phone is on this list. You should try and connect via Bluetooth rather than USB. This works great with other SE phones. Good luck.

Thanks, Phil
The problem is getting my G4 to recognise the connection in the first place: it sees the USB device in 0S9 but not at all in OS X. Perhaps OS X doesn't support the phone via USB? But I find that hard to believe!
Cheers

Well we know the bluetooth route should work for you - it wouldn't surprise me that much if the USB isn't working - there'd still have to be a device driver I think, and since the bluetooth works so well (and doesn't require purchasing an extra cable) I wouldn't be surprised if Apple hasn't written a driver.

If you don't find an answer her (or in the peripherals forum), you should look around over at Howardforums.com - plenty of mac users over there that might be able to help too.

This should just work, I reckon. My experience with the SE T68i was very straightforward. Run the Bluetooth Setup Assistant in OS X and it just....should....work.
