I want to set up a computer-to-computer network via the built-in airport on my PB, so my wife using a Dell laptop (Windows XP) can share the internet connection with me. (it comes from the wired connection on my PB)

I've set up the network and gave it a 40-bit WEP key, and her laptop appeared successively connected to this network. (IP and DNS is set to "automatic" on her laptop)

But connecting to any website on her laptop gave DNS error.

What additonal steps do I need to take on Windows XP to make this work?

(Sorry this is more like a windoze question but I rarely use windoze nowadays...)

Thanks a lot!

Open System Prefs on your Mac, open Sharing, Click on Internet tab, choose share your internet from wired ethernet to airport. Click start.

Thank you very much for the pointer. However I've tried to enable internet sharing and it still didn't work. The settings are

Share your connection from : Ethernet
To computers using: AirPort (only this one is checked)

And I did set up the WEP password after clicking the AirPort Options... button.

Again the windoze box successfully connected to the WiFi network, but when acquiring network address it only got an automatic one (169.x.x.x), so it couldn't resolve names using DNS.

By the way I set up the windoze box to automatically acquire IP and DNS (DHCP). I imagine this is the right way?

Thank you again!

This url may help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108058

Some windows use Ascii, others hex, others regular text for their passwords.

I'm not sure, but this may help you.
