More ram.

Turn off Virex if you have it.

How does Virex slow the system down?

Its always running in the background. I use the word run loosely, I'm sure it enters into a sleep state until an event like a file open, file copy or a file save occurs then it examines the file.

If you have it on all the time, it can slow down process as it checks through. I have it and have it set to run about every other month (or when I have to mess with the VPC side often in a month).

Also, if you have FileVault on, the encryption can slow down things.

But to be more helpful, the first poster should try and describe what he means by "slow." Which apps, what process, etc.

Do you have DiskWarrior? That could help.

If not, I'd run the hardware test and see what you come up. It might just need a clean re-install (in case the update got hosed somewhere). Otherwise, it could be more of a mechanical problem than the OS.

Do you have a bootable external that you can use in Target Mode?

Ahm now we're getting somewhere. I bet the "upgrade" was hosed. Either resintall Jag, or get a copy (legit) of Panther. Bet you see a world of difference.

You could try single user mode but it seems like the upgrade process is hosed. You might try and back everything up and then do an erase and install for Panther.
