Hi, Just got my new ibook 12". Thanks everyone for your help. I need some help.
I am a new mac use. When I open an application, the application windows opens up very small. How can I make all the applications to open in full screen size?
Also I installed 512mb ram. Is there any way I see that I have 768m ram in OS? I don't know the 512mb ram is working or not. Do you know any website for basic mac tutorial like how to install and unstall and other basic stiff? Please help me. Thanks.

Welcome to the fold... there will be a period of adjustment as your habits change from "Windows" to "Mac".

And one of the habits that you will loose is the need to only be using one application at a time. Windows don't need to take up the entire screen, so (for the most part) applications don't offer that. They do offer the little green button on the top-left of the window that will try and "best fit" the window to the contents. In some cases this will mean taking up the whole screen, but in many cases it will make the window smaller (because it doesn't need all that space to show its contents). After a while this will feel much better, and you will be annoyed by MS Windows behavior.

On the second point (about seeing the amount of memory you have installed) that is easy: go to the "Apple" menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen and choose "About this Mac", and the total memory will be listed there. You can also go into "Applications->Utilities->System Profiler" and that has things broken out by the RAM slot.

As to a good place for beginners guides... well I don't really know, but MacOS X Hints has a mountain of information... not well organized for what you are looking for, but a really good resource for a lot of different questions.

Almost every window has an area with three diagonal stripes at the bottom right that can be dragged to adjust the size of the window.

Mac OS X Hints isn't really a beginners resource.

just to chime in:

to install, MOST of the time, all you'll have to do is drag a program to your Applications folder (or pretty much anywhere else).

to uninstall, MOST of the time, all you'll have to do is drag that same program to the trash.

(I only say "most" because some applications still insist on having installers, in which case, you'll just run the installer to install, and (if the company's any good) you'll run the same program, but select a different option to uninstall).

Welcome to Macintosh.

Don't overthink it - just do what intuitively feels right and it'll probably work.

Just drag them off the Dock without any modifier key. Of course you can only remove applications that are not running. Running applications are always in the Dock.
4. Can I charge the ibook when it is turned off?
Sure.

Do you have a second question?

To drag you move the mouse over an object, press the mouse button and hold it down, then move the mouse to drag the object and release the mouse button to drop the object at the destination.

You can drag non running application off the Dock like this. If they start up you clicked them (i. e. you pressed and released the mouse button).

Just boot off of the MacOS X Install disk, once you are up you go into the menu and there is a item for reseting passwords. The only time this does not work is if you have a FileVault home folder (encrypted home directory), then you are out of luck if you forget the password.
