hey im having trouble printing to a psc 750 all in one scanner/printer/copier connected to my windows xp desktop computer. i have a powerbook running osx 10.3.7 accessing the internet and other computers on the network through a linksys wireless router. i have no problems browsing the other computers on the netwoks and vice versa.

so far this is what i have done on my powerbook:

i went to system prefs > print & fax > setup printers > add > windows printing from the drop down menu

i can see the pc with the printer and i highlight that pc and see the printer HP PSC 750xi. i've selected the printer.

now under printer model when i look through HP i don't see my printer model. instead i select generic.

when i try printing something to test i get a line of symbols along the top of the first page and then the printer continues to spool blank pages.

what do i need to do to get this setup right?

1. Download and install PSC750xi drivers for Mac OS 10.3 form HP. Then select the correct printer model from the printer list while adding the printer.

OR

2. Try selecting another HP recent Deskjet from the printer list. Many times this works.

It worked this way for my AIO Laserjet 3300. It should work for you.

Let me know how it goes...

ok i was able to print using the most recent deskjet driver. the only problem im having now is finding the option to print using draft mode to save ink. whenever i send a print job it prints the document out in 'best' mode wasting lots of ink for small print jobs.

Did you try ink save mode in the new driver.?? I guess that did not work either.

Also try downloading the hp drivers from thier web site and using that. I suppose this should work too.

hmm i don't want the whole hp printing app though. from the look of the download size it looks like it includes the actual scanning and printing helper app.

yes it includes everything. but once you install it you can delete the non required files. At least it will give you the correct driver

delete the Hewlett packard or HP folder it makes in the Applications folder. Also delete "HP Communications" from /library/printers/hp OR /library/printers/
