I did some house cleaning with Panther Cache Cleaner. Now I cant get PDFs to print. The printer, an Apple LaserWriter Select 360, is connected to an Asante Talk Ethernet adaptor. Here is a copy of the support question to Kagi Software, the makers of PCC.

I used Panther Cache Cleaner Demo to resolve a slowdown problem. Currently I am having trouble printing PDFs.

1. Panther Cache Cleaner Options Used:
-Run Maintenance Scripts.
-Clean System Log Archives.
-Deep Cleaning: All Three Options.

2. Printing Problem Described:
-Adobe Illustrator 10 Prints Ok with vector and text.
-PDF of same file "disappears*" from printer and Print Center.
-Test Illustrator file with only vector art prints fine from AI10.
-Test PDF from Illustrator test file with only vector art DOES print fine from AI10.
* Dispearing in this case means that Print Center says the file has printed, the printer flashes like it is going to print, but does'nt.

3. My computer spec:
OS X 10.2.8
Ti G4/667-512mb
Panther Cache Cleaner 2.3

I'm using Adobe Reader 6 and Suitcase X. Are there any known printing problems using these applications Panther Cache Cleaner? Can AppleTalk printing be effected by maintenance script or cache?

Kagi doesn't make PCC. Kagi is a shareware payment system.

The support page has it featured in several places-- burned into my mind when I posted.

Again, Any know issues of PCC effecting Adobe Reader 6, Suitcase X, or AppleTalk printing? I'm uncertain how to resolve this error where the print data disappears from both the computer and printer.

If it only happens in Illustrator ... try trashing its preference file ..

If that doesn't work reinstall Illustrator

I x-posted this with discussions.apple. A post there suggested that I reinstall the system (currently 10.2.8). Everything is working fine now.

There must be something ELSE to do inorder to troubleshoot after maintenance scripts and cache cleaning break something. The IT gods are ANGRY [fire belches from nearby volcano ] that a one minute cleaning can cause a problem that takes 5 hours to fix.
