keychain and windows shares

	when connecting to my XP box from my ibook, i get prompted every time for the workgroup, username and password. each time i check "add to key chain" but it never seems to work. i'm a newbie to macox, so is this by design? or should it automatically handle this when connecting if the user/pass is in the keychain? using 10.3.7 2nd question, if i plug in the network cable (for faster file transer), will it swtich from airport? or should i turn airport off to force it to use the cable? thanks!
