Hi, just recently my external fw drive has stopped showing one of its partitions in the finder, it mounts ok and itunes still plays the mp3s on it, i just cant see it in the finder.

I have tried using disk utility to unmount it and remount it with no luck.

the drive is a maxtor 250gb one touch and the 2 partitions are FAT32 (so I can use them on my friends and my own windows machines)

The drive has been used on my g5 since I had it and this problem has arisen over the last few weeks, maybe since the update to 10.3.7 i cant be sure!

Anyone have any tips or something to try?

cheers, ken.

When you say it doesn't show in the Finder, do you mean just on the desktop or also in the Finder sidebar. Regardless, go to the Finder>Preferences and under the General and Sidebar sections, check that the Hard Disks etc options are selected for the items to be mounted.

thanks for the tip, the partition in question doesnt show on the desktop either, the other partition shows on the desktop/sidebar of the finder. I made sure the hard disks option was ticked. No difference so far. I can get to it via the terminal also, its definately mounted but finder is ignoring it so it seems.

cheers, Ken.

Did you try deleting the .DS_Store files?
