I'm on web, and save a page. I put it in folder on desktop.

But when I go to other pages to do the same, OS can't remember to stick to that last folder, it reverts instead to desktop.

Is this normal, any ideas? thanks.

it depends on the app. some apps [like photoshop for example] are quite intelligent - and on 'open' will take you to the last folder you opened files from while 'save' will take you to the last folder you saved files to. other apps however, are more retarded and will default to your documents folder or the desktop every time - even if 999 times previously you've saved somewhere else.

What browser are you using? There may be an app specific setting you can use to achieve this.

That's interesting, actually, in another thread, I asked, how the heck can I default to desktop instad of document for general saving. never got a good answer on that one.

I was using Safari.

Oddly enough, Safari will choose the location you have selected to save downloaded files when you use Save As unless you have chosen another location.

actually this whole business of having a default set of folders [ie. documents, pictures, movies, music etc] is one of the things that really irks me about OSX. for a start i don't see what right the operating system has in trying to tell me how i organise my stuff [smacks too much of 'micro$haft to me!] - but that apart, if we *must* have such a system, then at least put it to use! apart from iphoto and itunes which default to saving in 'pictures' and 'music' by default, even most apple apps will just default to saving in documents and i don't think i've come across a third party app yet which will default to saving anywhere else than the 'desktop' or 'documents' folder. so we end up with a load of folders which the OS insists on creating for us, which would be rarely if ever used, if we didn't over-ride most applications default 'save' locations.

Hmm ... For me Safari remembers the last folder I saved to. That folder will come up in the save panel next time.

If it's just one folder you continually save to, you could try setting that folder as the default folder for downloads and see if that does the trick.
