Hello,
I have an iBook with 640 MB of ram. When I start the iBook up and pull up the activity moniter it shows about 170 MB of the ram is being used. After opening and closing apps through normal usage it will show that most of the ram is being used and there are staring to be page ins and outs. Even after I close all the apps its still shows most of the memory is being used. Why it that?

Thanks,
John

That's normal. Don't worry about it. Do a search for memory management to find out more about it.

This has been covered multiple times. Do a search on "ram usage" (or variants). What you are seeing is normal and reflects the very different memory management system that stems from the *nix roots of MacOS X.
