I'm trying to resurrect an old powerbook 100 for kicks, and I was wondering if it's possible to create a boot-able CD of OS 7.0.1 or 7.5. I can find the disk images for them, but they're a dozen or so floppy sized images. (What were they thinking back then anyway? ;-) )
Any hints on how to create a boot-able CD with the OS on it?

Well, for 7.0.1 or 7.1, you'll need to also find the system enablers required for the machine to boot. You don't need enablers for 7.5 (will that even run on a PowerBook 100?).
Toast 4 used to be able to burn bootable CD's. You needed to install the operating system on the hard drive first, and then in Toast you had to mark the CD as "bootable." (I don't remember how to do that).
In any case, you can't do it from OS X, as Toast for OS X doesn't have the ability to create bootable Mac OS 9 or earlier CDs.

BTW, you can also run System 6.0.8 on a PB 100, which gives a substantial speed boost.

P.S. It's System 7.0-7.5, not "OS" -- it didn't become "Mac OS" until 7.6.1.

Also, why not just use a floppy? Systems 6 and 7 weren't that many disks. (7.5, on the other hand, was a bunch.)
Note also that you can install over a network, provided that the computer has some OS to boot with.

You don't need any system enablers for the PowerBook 100. Otherwise Person Man is correct.
