Is there any way to open os x disk image on windows?

I think PCs remain in the stone age (where they belong) when it comes to disk images. Since PC users usually have to resort to third party software to read normal Mac volumes, reading a disk image on a PC will be difficult to do. There may be some third party software capable of the task, but I don't know of any names off hand.

I've never done this, but a quick google search found the following:

There's a command line tool able to convert a DMG file to an ISO.
You can download DMG2ISO from here:
http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/

You'll probably want to get the Windows exe version, and not the perl script.

Once you have the ISO, you can mount it with a virtual drive (like daemon tools, which is freeware)

You might want to take a look at making a new, hybrid disk image from the existing disk image using the makehybrid verb of hdiutil.
