Can't Rename Hard Drive

I am not able to rename my HD. I click on the name and wait for it to highlight so I can rename it like I would rename any other thing, but it never comes up. Any help? I've used a "<" in the name, could that be a problem?

Check to see if your HD is shared. If so, it may not allow you to alter the name.
