Hi: I would like to know if anyone uses the DVI to video adapter for the G5 machines. I have a sharp flat panel and would like to know if the graphics are going to be good or about the same as a flat panel for a computer. Any insight would be great.

Thank you.

Some TVs have digital inputs - DVI or HDMI. If you use a low resolution TV input, you will get low resolution TV output.

While digital is best, DVI to VGA (if your TV has VGA in) is also better than video in.

Nah if your TV has DVI then it is most likely an HDTV, which does compare to a monitor. HDTVs are optimized for 1920x1080 resolution (better than my monitor which is only 1280x960). I know that they don't display all of the horizontal lines (most are only around 1600), but it is much better than the 720 you refer to.

I haven't yet tried with my Mac, but with my PC connecting to an HDTV (the PC has a 9600XT) I couldn't do it via just DVI. I had some resolution/screen size issues. I ended up buying the ATI HDTV hookup (converts DVI to Component input). I haven't had a chance to try it out, but I might just try it with my mac (G5 with 9600XT). Supposedly it does a better job of "hooking up" to your TV.
