Has anyone here tried to use Apples X11.app with Solaris CDE? I don't typically use a gui with Solaris, but I decided to check out Gnome on Solaris 10. As always, I'm able to create an x session between my Mac and Solaris, but running Xsession (to start the gui login) wasn't successful. I can run any other xcommand, but starting CDE is impossible. Is anyone using X11 and Solaris CDE?
The error from ~/.dt/sessionlogs:

I have used CDE on Solaris in the past but never remotely so i can't help you. By the way, JDS 3 on Solaris 10 is great. And by the way, if your trying to run Gnome. why are you trying to use CDE?

You have to pull up the CDE login window to select Gnome as your windowing environment. I cannot get past the loading of the CDE login screen.

That's the dtlogin screen...the deskop login screen. You can't remote that, I believe. Login into gnome or whatever WM you are using and try again.

I've never tried CDE, but I've had gnome working over X from solaris. I remember I had to mostly start it manually by executing the binaries that would load gnome after the login screen. Once I got past that everything worked fine except for solaris smc.

You know, I'm not sure I believe that to be the case. I'm pretty certain you pull up dtlogin. I'm going to try from my XP box tonight and see how far I get.
