whenever i open console the window fills up with the following message....

Code:
Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717 Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718 etc. etc....
anyone any idea what it means?

i thought at first, some peripheral had been 'improperly disconnected' and this message meant the system was looking for it, but it's still happening even after a check of all connected gizmos and a restart. if i 'clear' the window it just start filling up over again

thanks!

funnily enough, the first thing i usually do with a mystery error message is paste it into google to see what it throws up. with this one i didnae bother as it seemed a bit vague. just goes to show you, there's nothing new under the sun.

anyway, for anyone else's interest, here's the short version.......

If you disconnect your Canon CanonScan LiDE 80, 50, or 30 scanner, be prepared for thousands of logfile entries while the scanner driver searches the USB bus for the scanner.

Just trash that button manager nonsense and do without it. Who uses those buttons to start applications anyway?

It's pretty sag that Canon is unwilling this serious problem. I will no longer consider any of their devices that require a driver.
