I don't know about the rest of you, but I prefer as much desktop as possible and one of the first toggles I make after a fresh install is to hide the dock.

It occured to me that I have never seen a utility that hides the menu bar. How cool would that be?! Move the cursor up to the top of the screen and down it slides.

Maybe, just maybe, someone like Uninsanity could write one...

It's easy to do on a per-application basis (my app does it), but I've not tried to set it on a system-wide level. Unfortunately, hiding the menu bar doesn't allow the space it occupied to be used by any windows (at least with the kiosk API).

I'm sure it's possible though with some more underhand means....

If your machine is single-user or you don't care about your other users you could just add the code below to every app's Info.plist file...
Code:
<key>LSUIPresentationMode</key> <integer>4</integer>
...which is documented here.

I actually whipped out a quick APE module that does this during MWSF. It's got a few tweaks it still needs and then I'll be releasing it.

As it stands, it'll be a freebie, but I'm open to feature requests for it that might turn it into a $10 Haxie.

What's the use if you cannot use the space once hidden?
