What is it and why is it hogging 25-40% of my CPU?

15" Al PB G4 w/ 1.25G RAM, running 10.3.8

what apps are you running. system events on my system is taking 0% of my computer power. running 8 different apps here.

I found the culprit. When I turn off folder actions, System Events eats 0%. When it's on? 25-40%, sometimes more.
