im going to backup all my files and clear one of my computers.

but i ran into a problem. i want to make sure of it first.

When i delete the harddrive and resintall 10.0.0 will it be asking me for a code or something?

i cant find my code for the second computer and i dont know if its going to be asking me or not and dont want to get mac os x installed again and have to not use the computer because there is no harddrive with a valid code

Mac OS X doesn't have a Product Activation scheme like Windows does, so no.

With that said, 10.0 is extremely old, and really not very good compared to later versions of Mac OS X. Why don't you get a copy of 10.3 (or wait a bit and get a copy of 10.4) instead? With the later versions there's an option in the installer called "Archive and Install" which will allow you to do a clean reinstall of the whole OS without formatting your drive, thus leaving all your files and data intact so you won't have to restore them from backup.

No what he's saying is that if you have Panther install disk's there is an option where you could "Archive and Install" which basically reinstalls only the OS but doesn't touch your files and Applications. I too wouldn't bother with 10.1, you could find Jaguar and Panther install disks on ebay for dirt cheap nowadays.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
