ok so i decided to setup seperate accounts on my powerbook. i was getting tired of my girlfriend and other friends messing with my personal 'files'. so i added two managed accounts. enabled FUS. downloaded and installed winswitch. bada bing bada boom success. now they can't get into my account. i have some tv shows and movies saved in my movies folder. i figured i could change the permissions on that particular folder under 'others' to read only (cmd + I on the folder). then i changed accounts and went into my main accounts home folder and created alias' of the tv and movies files and dragged those alias' into the new user accounts movie folder. everything works fine. now what i can't figure out is how i can create alias' from within my account in the other guest accounts. i think it's such a hassle to keep switching between accounts to do create and move alias' around. unless im mistaken? can i even do that?

better yet is there an easier method of sharing my movies folder with the other user accounts aside from using an alias?

How about you just put your movies in the public folder?

1. Go to ~/Movies.
2. Action Menu -> Get Info. Go to Ownership and Permissions.
3. Set others to "Read Only." Apply to enclosed folder.
4. Switch to second account.
5. Go to /Users/yourshortname/Movies. Drag that folder into the sidebar.

"Bada bing, bada boom."
