I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem? This morning iTunes started playing a song I had iCal set to to wake me up, and then started hanging so bad the audio stopped and stuff, actually the whole Machine bogged down which I thought was weird. Then I force restarted, (had some problems there the Apple screen took a dog's age) and now twice today I've had iTunes stop playing songs, not just hang, it stops the stop button remains there (so I know that it still thinks it's playing) only the time stampy thing stops, but the song thing still moves... I'm not sure if this is and iTunes meets .3.8 problem or a my HD is screwy problem or what... I have repeatedly repaired permissions.

The only time I've ever experienced anything like what your are talking about is when my roommate's hard drive started to go ... and I was trying to access his Music Library though sharing.

How's about firing up Activity Monitor and the next time it happens, take a peek at which process is really using all that CPU. You may find it is something other than iTunes hogging the CPU.

Just caught this site/thread after doing a hunt on the Net for slowdowns & the .8 update. Anyway, I've noticed my Mac becoming bogged down after being on for just a day, never did this before, same apps are running as before, etc. iTunes is skipping a lot more now, the thing just feels so sluggish after about a day.
