i have a seperate account setup on my 12" powerbook for when my younger siblings stay over at my apartment. aside from keeping them safe from my files and what not.. i've created a seperate user account for them. the simple finder works great. they have one click access to specific apps that i've chosen. porblem is is that the dock is huge and i can't figure out how to atleast shrink it a little bit. would be even better to be able to move the dock to the side to salvage some vertical screeen real estate. is there any way to change the dock a little bit for a simple finder managed user?

Two ways, go to System Preferences > Dock and you can adjust the size, adjust the placement and adjust the amount of magnification.

Or, there's a slight divider in the dock for apps and documents/folders. Click on that and hold the mouse down and you can drag the dock larger or smaller.

You can also look into hiding the dock until you need it (just dragging the mouse to the bottom of the screen (or sides if they dock is there). Saves space on a 12.

^ that doesn't work if you're using the simple finder for a managed user. the only dock option that can be changed is magnification.

for now im just making the users a standard user since i found out they can't edit the finder main system folders or apps which was my major concern.

Allow the user to edit the dock and such, login as that user, make the desired adjustments then go back to your account and lock them down again.
