Tiger (not tech support question) and Palm?

Does anyone know in prerelease testing so far, if the current Palm Desktop software and conduits (especially iSync, and for others, Office X, I'm sure) are running and working OK?

The reason I ask is I'm certain there are a ton of Tungsten/Zire/Treo owners (especially the newly-poor Treo 650 owners) who are wondering if there are going to be compatibility problems 4–6 months out from now when Tiger is released, since Palm has since abandoned the Mac. That way we can go and shell out more $$$ for MissingSync and start getting used to it (I like keeping things simple, so I hope that's not an option), if necessary.

Thanks!

P.S. Mods can/consider move this to peripherals or software???

I'm pretty sure that Palm said that they are not abandoning Mac OS X.
You know it makes sense. ☼ ☼ ☼ Growl.

I'm sure people do know, but they're not allowed to tell you. There are good reasons for them not being allowed to tell you.

Tiger is still under development. It is not legitimate to infer the status of support and compatibility in an unreleased product from pre-release versions of said product.

Why do you need to know this right now? Just wait until Tiger is released. I'm sure you'll easily be able to find out the recommended course of action at that time.

Isn't that a little condescending? The questioner is curious about something and thought that asking if anyone knew might yield some info. Why don't you cut our guest some slack? How many "does anybody know if ..." questions are asked here every day?

Does anybody know if... questions are fine. That's not the point. Go back and re-read what I said.

No need. I understood you the first time. You implied the question was unnecessary and that the questioner should wait and find out when the product is released. You could just admit you don't know instead of attacking the questioner -- or maybe just don't post in the first place.

I'm tired of people posting to complain and criticize the questions asked. If you don't like a question, I say don't respond to it unless you're an admin. I think we should encourage curiosity, not try to dampen it.

Oh, and what makes you think that I don't know?

I thought you said that no one knows. At the very least, you know but won't tell the questioner (because of a nondisclosure agreement), which has the same effect.

Thanks!
PalmOne has NOT abandoned the Mac, only PalmSource has. PalmSource says that they will not provide Mac sync support for PalmOS 6 devices, but they will help other companies to develop Mac compatible software. PalmOS 6 devices will be supported by The Missing Sync.
PalmOne does still support the Mac, they have even announced that they currently prefer PalmOS 5 in part because that OS is compatible with Macs (without The Missing Sync). I believe that Tiger will still support the PalmDesktop software for PalmOS 5 devices.

Does anybody know if the current Palm conduits and iSync work well with current Palm devices on the latest Tiger builds? Treos, Tungstens and Zires?

Look, here's the deal. I'd like to know if I install Tiger, I'll lose what works today. If you have some information that won't compromise the NDA, please do tell.

Regards, and thanks.

Bump.

Has anyone successfully synced Tiger and Palm/iSync?

Wanted to know, because if anyone has installed, and NOT been able to sync/had problems with current Palms (Treo 650/Tungsten E2/Tungsten T5), I think that would save people a world of trouble.

...

Thanks for: nothing, Angus.

I ask again, more clearly, if there has been any experience with Palm and Tiger, because, for me, it's a deal killer. If it doesn't work, I shall cancel my preorder. Any advance knowledge would be most welcome. (As opposed to useless monologues.)

Thanks.
