Question:
Does anyone know where I can pick up a version of 10.3 ? Should I and/or can I jump from OSX.2.8 straight to OSX.3.4 or 3.8 or would it be advisable to install all of the previous updates, X.3 , X.4, X.5, X.6, X.7, to get to the current update OSX.3.8 I beleive ?
If I have not purchased OSX.3 Panther yet, can I simply install the updates on top of my curently running OSX.2.8 ?
Thanks for any and all guidance given people. Peace.

eBay; Apple; other retailers will sell you 10.3, though with 10.4 only a few months away, I'd consider waiting for that.

No you can't apply a 10.3.8 update to a computer running anything less than 10.3.

Once you have 10.3.0 installed (or some other 10.3.x version), you can download (or use the built-in Software Update feature) to update to 10.3.8.

To reiterate cpac's point, you need to be running 10.3 to upgrade to a higher version of 10.3. But once you have 10.3 running, you can get the combo updater that allows you to go from a version that is several iterations behind to the current release. Note that if you are buying new Panther disks, you'll probably get something like 10.3.6. It is probably advisable for you to perform an Archive and Install, but it is not mandatory. At this point, you may want to wait for Tiger, however.
