ok so i dont have my panther discs and had to reinstall with just osx.its updated to 2.8 dont know what that has to do with this but yes. havent used my ibook in awhile (was gettin serviced) and i cant remember for the life of me on how to make my harddrive icon dissappear when i move it to the dock .. i dont like anything to be on my screen.
While you're in the Finder, open "Preferences..." (Command+, from Finder), not the System Preferences. From there just uncheck the things you don't want showing up on your Desktop. Is that what you were looking for?
