Expose acting stupid

When I have multiple windows open for Safari and use Expose to show all Safari windows, it always arranges them in single row horizontally. For example, suppose I have 4 windows open, Expose would always arrange them 4x1 as opposed to 2x2. To me this seems really dumb as it doesn't fully utilize the display area and make each window unnecessarily small.
Is this normal? How can I fix it? Thanks.

That is the way Safari seems to do it with the F10 Expose view. Other applications do not do this, so I wonder how the arrangement is determined.

I discovered that having at least one window of different size open in Safari will break the silly one-row Expose arrangement. e.g. with the "Downloads" or "Activity" window open, Expose will arrange the windows in the most efficient manner.
However, this is still a bug (IMO). How can I send feedback to Apple? Thanks.

The reason they are lined up horizontally is because the tops are all lined up AND they're the same size. You probably have your windows set to the maximum screen size like a Windows user, right? That's why. When you run Safari in a regular window and open a new one, it is placed down and to the right. Expose works perfectly then.

Another way is to slightly change the size of a window by resizing, and then Expose will change too its behavior.

Yeah it must be a "side-effect" of the algorithm Expose uses to sort windows. I tried the same thing with Word and Expose did the same- aligned it up in one row instead of 2x2. I don't think Expose cares what app the windows are- so I think it's an Expose problem and not an Expose and/or Safari problem.
As mentioned above, slightly mis-aligning or re-sizing any of the windows (even by 1 pixel) will fix it as then the windows are not the same dimensions anymore.

So are you saying that if I need maximum display area while browsing on my 12" iBook I don't deserve a properly-working Safari?
I'm not trying to use it like Windows. I just click zoom while checking my Yahoo Mail and the window gets max'ed out. Some forums can also do that. It's not that hard to max out a 1024x768 display.

It sounded like I said that but that's not what I meant. I was just trying to describe the behavior and what might be causing it. I honestly suspect that in Tiger Apple will fix this.

I don't want to start a new thread just for this since this one is so aptly titled. Hopefully it won't detract from the original subject too much.
My Exposé is misbehaving now (as of 10.3.8) too. When I "Show Desktop" it only stays that way for a couple of seconds before putting everything back the way it was. Pain in the bum behaviour.
Anyone else get that?

Do you mean you hit the F11 key and let go, and the windows move away a few seconds before automatically moving back? Or do you mean they only stay away while you hold down the F11 key?

It seems like Tiger has not addressed this issue...?

I just tried it in 10.4 and it still did the horizontal tiling thing. That said, if I needed to make a window that big, I'd just use freakin' tabs.
