first the whole mac community gets all up in arms about windows explorer and IE being integrated within windows, people sue microsoft, okay monstor put to sleep.
what the HELL is with this safari ********.
first off, having software update secretly install safari if it is deleted.. that was sneaky **** right there. i had to make a txt file, rename it safari.app, and LOCK it just to keep that **** off my computer.
now realplayer decided it wants to be the default web browser.. yes WEB browser, as gmail is tyring to open in it but failing miserably.
what do i have to do? download third party software because apple cant get its **** straight on what is system software and what is its cheap knockoff shitware.
safari sucks. why should i be forced to have it waste space on my machine.
whos the asshole now?

A couple questions:
1) Why would Safari cause you trouble if another browser is set as default anyway? It's not like IE on Windows where you are at risk for simply opening it.
2) What's so bad about safari? (I had to ask )

Safari being the default browser, and automatically updated, is sooooo far different from IE being intgegrated into Windows, I really can't see how you can make the comparison.
I'm not saying it's great or anything, or even that SJ is not an a-hole, as you eloquently put it. But it is not even remotely similar to the IE/Windows situation.

I wouldn't call it secret or sneaky, it's really quite logical when you think about it. Your system came with Safari installed, and when software update finds an update for either Safari, WebKit, or a security fix that affects either, then I would expect it to try to update what it thought was on your computer.
The fact that it is no longer on your computer might be reason to call Software Update dopey, or stupid, but there's nothing sneaky or secretive about it. It's merely trying to update an application that it has in it's list of "receipts" to be maintained.

I read your post a few times.
I want you to know that you shouldn't make topics. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and you do nothing but make yourself set up for critizism. I guess if you like attention, it's not a bad idea.

Okay, I think we all know why this got locked. Lets try to be civil here.
BTW, the only thing Safari does is keep up with bookmarks and tabs. Everything else is in WebKit, which even OmniWeb uses now. At least you don't have to have Safari to look at the files on your hard drive.
