Ok, so this should be easy. Go to the print/fax setup. Setup printer, add, found printer on network, configure manually, navigate to ppd file in library/printers...but...the ppd shows up as a folder (I know it is, but previously the OS just said, yup, that's the ppd select, but now it won't let me as it want me to open the folder, inside are all the working files, no good to me, I just want the printer to be running. It will allow me to configure the machine as a generic laser writer but then I loose half the options.

Any comments/ideas?

Thanks

Does this happen to all PPDs or just the one you need? What printer is it? Maybe it could help to download a fresh version of the PPD from the manufacturer's website.

A ppd is a single (text) file. There is something wrong with your "ppd" if it is a folder.

It happens to all the printer descriptions, for the QMS colour laser and Epson Stylus. Each ppd displays as a folder containing numerous files of all sorts.

Have re downloaded from printer web sites. Also tried it on another machine and same problem!!

Haven't come accross anything like this before.

That may be a folder containing various language versions of the ppd. What extensions do the files inside the folder have?
