I've been shopping for XP pro, and it is expensive. More than VirtualPC it seems... so I'm wondering if I can buy VirtualPC and just use the XP portion on a PC I've got. I won't be installing Virtual PC in the near future but I suppose I could use it to install Linux or something.

I don't need a lecture about license violations, or how much XP sucks, because I'm only going to install it on one computer at a time, and I already like OSX better.

thanks in advance.

I imagine it would only be possible if you had a full blown installer disc; however, if I recall, VPC shipped with pre-installed images only (or at least they used to).

Cheers.

Why not buy the OEM version of XP Pro? It's cheaper than VPC 7 with XP Pro and you can just add a $1 cable or some other hardware to qualify. See Newegg, for example.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.
