This may seem like a dumb question but....

Can i use Disk Utility to create a mirror raid set of 2 drives if one of the drives is bigger than the other?

Example:

I have a 160 SATA drive.
I add a 200 gig SATA drive.

Can I tell DU to make a 160 gig mirror raid (so data is written do both drives at once for emergencies) ?

I don't care if i lose the 40 gigs on the 200 gig SATA... i just want to see if i can avoid buying another 160 gig SATA drive.. i would rather spend that money on RAM..

thanks\

ps i have created mirror raids in the past but they always had the same size drives...

That should work fine, but you'll lose the extra 40GB. Or at least that's my understanding.
