I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut - and it's driving me mad - I can't find it.

It's pretty obscure (and may not even exist any more - I'm pretty sure it's a relic from NeXT) - but I'm sure someone here will remember it.

Basically - in any cocoa text editing area you can press this keyboard shortcut and the two chars either side of the caret will switch - so if you typed teh you could correct it by placing the caret between h and e and invoking the keystroke.

Anyone know this?

Thanks, Digs.

Control-T. I use it all the time.

Very neat .... however ... its not really that hard to manually edit a single character typo like that so its no wonder that this shortcut is obscure.

It's an emacs command, some others work as well:

ctrl-a - cursor to start of line
ctrl-e - cursor to end of line
ctrl-f - cursor forward one char
ctrl-b - cursor back one char

anyone know any other useful ones? I'd love forward/back one word, but that needs a META key, and doesn't seem to work in text fields.
You see, my friends, pirates are the key. - thalo

I don't know the emacs command, but alt+right arrow or alt+left arrow will move you one word backwards or forwards. Command+left or command+right does the same as ctrl+a and ctrl+e, respectively.
