I just installed an external drive to serve as a convenient backup device. I put two folders on it, one for myself and one for my wife. For some reason I can't get permissions to stick on the folders. I set my folder to be owned by me and I put group and others to have no access. I also turned off 'Ignore permissions' for the new drive. When my wife logs in, she appears as the owner of my folder.

Any ideas?

Did you unmount the drive and remount it after you turned "Ignore permissions" off?

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
