Coming from a PC where it's a no-no to performance to install an ATI card on an OS install where exisitng NVIDIA card drivers still exist, I'm curious as to how Mac OS handles it.

I have an X800XT on the way, and am currently running the FX 5200. Can I just plug it in and be happy, or do I need to get rid of the NVIDIA drivers beforehand?

Thanks

Hi!

Just plug it in, OS X will only load the drivers it needs.

Yep. Take a look at the Extensions section in System Profiler. You'll see that only the kexts necessary for the hardware you have are loaded.
