The version of my system is 10.3.8. I found the font of this os seems a little weird for me, who has a long time Windows experience and just switched to Mac.I would like to know if I can change the default font of
Mac OSX,and If I can, can I add some fonts from Windows to Mac,especially for some Multi-byte language display?

Welcome to the Mac.

Mac OS X, unlike Windows, is designed for clarity and a consistent user experience, so you won't find any built-in controls for changing the system fonts. However, there are add-on programs that let you change everything. I suggest asking for help on the Gui Customization forum, the folks there do that kind of thing all the time.

As for fonts, you should be able to use any Truetype or Opentype fonts you used under Windows. Just open up Fontbook and install them.

Windows fonts should copy straight across to OSX, with no need for conversion. Beware, however; the reverse is not always true.

Do a search for Silk and TinkerTool. Both allow font changes in different manners and methods.

If you change the system fonts, the font metrics will be off, and things will not quite fit everywhere. Dialog boxes will just look weird, and some things will over-run their alloted space.

As to adding more fonts... as others have said, it is a simple process. If you are the only one that is going to use the fonts just toss them in ~/Library/Fonts (~ = your user folder), or, if you need to use them in classic, System Folder/Fonts (restart of Classic probably required.

And you will find that Apple's collection of fonts is far better in the two and three byte unicode range than Windows generic set. If you think you are missing something, there are more fonts that can be installed from the MacOS X install CD/DVD.

Depends on the font. Handledmod, Apple Myriad and Helvetica Nueue are all very usable system-wide font changes to replace Lucinda Grande.

Take a look at the GUI forum and the Desktop screenshot thread. You'll see plenty of workable font modification.
